BLKBARPrivacy PolicyLast Updated: 27 September 2026
BLKBAR Ltd (“BLKBAR”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
BLKBAR is a UK-based digital platform that connects clients with independent hairstylists, braiders, barbers, and beauty professionals specialising in Afro and textured hair.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
Stylists and service providers using the platform to promote and manage their services
By using our Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
BLKBAR Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data.
If you have questions regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you may contact us using the details above.
We may collect and process the following categories of information:
When creating an account, booking services, or contacting us, we may collect:
Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We do not store full debit or credit card details directly on our servers.
We may receive limited payment-related information including:
When you use the Platform, we may automatically collect:
We may use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to:
You may control cookies through your browser settings.
For Stylists, and to record agreement to our terms, we also collect and hold:
Insurance certificate documents you upload, and details taken from them including the insurer, policy number, type of cover, and policy expiry date
Verification and review records — whether your insurance was reviewed, the date of review, the outcome, and your verification badge status
Records of the consents and acknowledgements you and Clients give through the Platform (for example a Stylist’s insurance declaration, and a Client’s cancellation and cooling-off acknowledgements), including the date and time, the account concerned, and the version of the wording shown at the time
Insurance certificates and business documents may themselves contain personal data (such as a name or a business or home address). We handle any such data in line with this Policy.
You can choose to sign in with Google or Apple, and Stylists can choose to connect Google Calendar or Instagram. We only receive what you approve on Google’s, Apple’s or Instagram’s own permission screen, and we only use it for the feature you connected it for.
Sign in with Google or Apple. Google or Apple shares your name and email address (and Google your profile picture). We use them only to create your BLKBAR account and sign you in.
Google Calendar (Stylists). If you connect Google Calendar, we add each confirmed BLKBAR booking to your calendar as an event, and remove it if the booking is cancelled. To do this we store a token for your Google account and which calendar to write to. We only create and delete the events BLKBAR adds; we don’t read, copy or store any of your other calendar events.
Instagram (Stylists). If you connect an Instagram professional account, we read your own posts (the image or video link, caption and post type) so you can choose which to copy into your BLKBAR portfolio. Only the posts you choose are copied; they then appear on your BLKBAR profile like any other post, and you can edit or delete them. We store a token for your Instagram account while it’s connected. We don’t post to Instagram, and we don’t read other accounts, your messages or your followers.
How we treat this data. We use it only to provide the feature you connected. We don’t sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, and we don’t share it with anyone except the providers that host our Platform. You can disconnect at any time (Google Calendar in Settings, Instagram in Edit Studio), which deletes the stored token, and you can also remove BLKBAR’s access in your Google or Instagram account settings. Deleting your BLKBAR account removes all of it.
BLKBAR’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We use personal data for the following purposes:
We may use your information to:
Users can opt out of marketing communications at any time.
We may use data to:
Keep records of consents and acknowledgements given through the Platform
We use photos of the finished service, messages and booking records to do this.
We may process information where necessary to:
Under UK GDPR and Data Protection laws, we rely on the following lawful bases:
Examples include:
Verifying Stylist insurance and operating the verification badge (our legitimate interests in platform safety and protecting Clients, and performing our contract with Stylists)
Keeping records of consents and acknowledgements (our legitimate interests in evidencing agreement, and meeting our legal obligations)
We do not sell personal data.
However, we may share information with:
Third-party providers that help operate the Platform, including:
Certain information is shared between clients and stylists to facilitate bookings, including:
Where a Stylist receives a Client’s personal data to fulfil a Booking, the Stylist acts as an independent controller of that data and is responsible for handling it in line with data protection law.
Photos of the finished service are visible to the Client and the Stylist on that Booking, and to BLKBAR staff reviewing a report.
We may disclose information if required by law or where necessary to:
If BLKBAR undergoes a merger, acquisition, investment round, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. These measures may include:
Encrypted connections (HTTPS)
However, no digital platform can guarantee complete security. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their passwords and account information.
Some third-party service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where international transfers occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure adequate safeguards are in place, including:
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to:
Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the data and applicable legal requirements.
When you delete your account in the app, it is deleted straight away: your profile, photos, posts, reviews, messages, follows, and any Google Calendar or Instagram connection. We keep only past booking and payment records that UK law requires us to keep, with your name replaced by “Deleted user”, and the records of consents described below. See how to delete your data.
Photos of the finished service are deleted 7 days after the appointment, unless a report about the Booking is open, in which case they’re kept until it’s resolved. We keep a record that a photo was taken, and when, but not the photo. Problem reports and our decisions are kept with the booking and payment records.
Insurance and verification records (including certificates and review logs) are kept while you offer services through the Platform and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle disputes and meet legal and limitation requirements. Expired certificates are removed, or the verification badge withdrawn, in line with our verification process. Records of consents and acknowledgements are kept for as long as needed to evidence agreement and resolve any related dispute.
Under UK GDPR, users may have rights including:
You can delete your account yourself at any time in the app (Privacy → Delete my account; see how to delete your data). Other requests may be submitted by contacting us at team@blkbar.co. We may request identity verification before processing certain requests.
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 or over. Where a person under 18 uses the Platform, it must be with the supervision and consent of a parent or guardian, consistent with our Terms and Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent, and if we become aware that we have, we may delete it.
Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites, services, or social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party services. Users should review the privacy policies of those providers separately.
Stylists and clients may upload content including reviews, comments, images, portfolio content, and profile information. Users are responsible for ensuring they have the rights and permissions necessary to upload content. BLKBAR reserves the right to remove content that violates our policies or applicable laws. You can report content or accounts and block other users in the app; see Community standards in our Terms and Conditions.
We may use analytics and advertising tools to improve marketing performance and reach relevant audiences. This may include social media advertising, retargeting campaigns, audience analytics, and promotional communications. Users may opt out of marketing communications through account settings or unsubscribe links.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Where significant changes are made, we will give notice at least 14 days before they take effect, through email, in-app notifications, or website notices. Continued use of the Platform after the changes take effect may constitute acceptance of the revised policy.
